Update Records Faster by Using Before-Save Updates in Flows

  • By Adam Redmond

Process Builders are powerful, but they won’t win awards for the speed of processing change updates. A brand new feature has just been unveiled in the Spring 2020 Release which will address this.

Creating or updating a record can now trigger an autolaunched flow to make additional updates to a record before it is saved to the database.

Before save updates in flows are 10 times faster than an on change update via Process Builder. Replace these Process Builders with before save Flow updates to reduce overall processing time in the Org.

This change applies to: Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance Unlimited and Developer editions. To activate a flow that makes before save updates, the user requires the View All Data permission.
